The fortress of Amberd (also known as Ambert or Ampert) is located at the slopes of mount Aragats. There is also the church with the same name nearby. The fortress is believed to had been built between 11th and 13th centuries. The church was built in the year 1026 by Prince Vahram Pahlavuni. The place is quite remote and there is not much on the way to it with the exception of sporadic sheep keepers and farmers. The baths are located outside the fortress.
